LA Sheriff's investigators asking for help locating homicide suspect

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Office is looking for Carlos Marcelo Montes de Oca accused of killing a 67-year-old man in Lake Los Angeles, but are asking the community for help locating him.

Authorities say Montes de Oca also goes by the name Carlos Marcelo Morales. He is wanted for the shooting death of Salomon Mendoza Mazariegos.

The shooting occurred on Feb. 27, 2019, at about 8:40 p.m. in the 39400 block of 167th Street.

Investigators say both men lived in separate RVs on the same property near the house where the shooting occurred. They believe that after a heated argument inside the home, the suspect shot and killed the victim before running away.

Montes de Oca is described as a Hispanic male adult, 47 years old, 5-feet 11-inches tall, 175 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, and is believed to frequent the Lancaster and Palmdale areas.

Authorities consider Montes de Oca armed and dangerous. Do not attempt to contact the suspect or detain him, call 911.
