The earthquake was reported around 5:56 p.m. Monday in Indio, near Sky Valley.
At least five aftershocks followed. The aftershocks were recorded at magnitudes of 3.3, 3.4, 2.9, 3.0, and 3.5.
It's unclear if any damage or injuries were reported.
