Fires ravage Riverside County

The Rabbit Fire, Reche Fire, Gavilan Fire and Highland Fire are combined burning more than 8,000 acres in Riverside County

Firefighters in Riverside County fire spent the majority of a week divvying up their resources and staff as they dealt with three massive wildfires – all breaking within hours apart.

In the second of the three separate fires sparking on July 14, the "Highland Fire" sparked evacuation orders for a couple of hours before they were eventually lifted that same day.

Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department responded to a call of a fire just before 3 p.m. on July 14, near South Highland Springs Avenue and Breckenridge Avenue in Beaumont

By Monday, July 17, the fire had scorched 105 acres but had been fully contained.

'Highland Fire' spreading in Riverside County

Crews are battling a second 150-plus acre Riverside County fire in as many hours Friday. This time in Beaumont.

All evacuations have since been lifted.

The fire broke out less than two hours after a different sparked near Moreno Valley.
