Teen fatally shot in Hollywood

A teenage girl is dead after a shooting at a street takeover in the heart of Hollywood Saturday night.

The girl was struck by gunfire just after midnight at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in an incident which was tied to a street racealong surface roads, according to Officer Kevin Snare of the Los Angeles Police Department's Operations Center.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Ramon Roque Monreal, of El Paso, Texas, was taken into custody by sheriff's deputies around 3:45 a.m. in the area of 223rd and Figueroa streets after an unrelated radio call.

Monreal was allegedly in possession of a firearm, the LAPD said. Sheriff's deputies notified LAPD Hollywood homicide detectives, who later arrested him for suspicion of murder.

Monreal's bail is set at $3 million dollars, according to jail records and the LAPD.

Detectives are expected to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office on Tuesday.
