LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - Funeral services will be held for Gary Canter on Sunday. Canter was the grandson of the founder of Cantor's Deli. His sudden passing was announced in a tweet on Wednesday. He was found unresponsive at his home Tuesday night. It's believed he died of a heart attack. He was 58 years old.
Canter's grandfather Ben and Ben's two brothers opened Canter's Deli in Boyle Heights in 1931. It was moved to the Fairfax District in the 1950s, and it quickly became a popular hangout. Gary Canter recently opened two restaurants in Las Vegas. There are no plans at the moment to hold a memorial at the restaurant.
