LOS ANGELES - For the thousands of people streaming out of Staples Center early Monday afternoon, it was a day they will never forget.
The fans were among those draped in purple and gold, wearing 8s and 24s, famous and not famous who were part of a two-plus hour roller coaster ride of emotions to celebrate the life of a basketball great, a husband and a father.
It was powerful poignant touching sad and at moments funny. It was a historic day in SoCal history.
That was not unexpected but in my book, the timing was curious on a day billed as a “celebration of life."
