2 hospitalized in Disneyland hazmat situation

It's unclear if the two people are cast members or theme park guests.

At least seven Disneyland cast members were hospitalized following a hazmat situation at the theme park on Tuesday.

What we know:

According to the Anaheim Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of an unknown odor in the backstage area near the "Star Tours" attraction in Tomorrowland around 12:30 p.m.

The incident left seven cast members being taken to the hospital for dizziness and shortness of breath, according to an official with Disneyland Resort. Several others were treated at the park and did not need to go to the hospital, Disneyland Resort's official said.

Firefighters said park operations were not affected.

What we don't know:

The cause of the odor is unknown.

What they're saying:

An official with Disneyland Resort issued the following statement in response to Tuesday's incident:

"This afternoon, building materials being used by a contractor produced a reaction backstage at Disneyland park, and the area was examined by appropriate response teams. Several cast members were treated on-site by paramedics and released; and at this time, five cast members experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath were transported to local hospitals. Out of an abundance of caution, adjacent onstage areas were cleared of guests and are expected to reopen soon."
