Deadly crash shuts down traffic lanes on PCH in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. - A deadly vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in Malibu Friday night temporarily shut down all traffic lanes in both directions in the 21300 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Rambla Vista.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The driver remained at the scene following the crash. Their condition is unknown.
One traffic lane in each direction is open as of 8:30 p.m., but there is a heavy traffic backup. Authorities encourage drivers to avoid the area if possible or use alternate routes. It's unknown when the remaining lanes will reopen.
The collision was reported at about 7:15 p.m. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
