Man in custody in connection with shipping container yard fire

A man is being charged with arson in connection to the Wilmington fire.

A man was taken into custody in connection with a fire that broke out at a shipping container yard in the Wilmington area. 

Mark Munoz was arrested on suspicion of arson of property, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

The fire broke out Wednesday afternoon at a container yard on the 1400 block of North Alameda Street.

According to the fire department, the yard contained shipping containers, tires, and other stored item.

There were early reports of loud explosions heard in the area, prompting a hazmat investigation however, the loud noises turned out to be tires exploding.

SkyFOX over commercial fire in Wilmington

Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department are working to contain a fire the broke out at a commercial building in the Wilmington area.

Welding materials were found on scene, but all canisters were in tact and did not contribute to the fire, the department reported. 

The nearby railway was closed through the Alameda Corridor.
