Fire extinguisher causes 'explosion" in UPS truck

Police were called to reports of a suspicious package in a UPS truck that had reportedly exploded. But after further investigation, LAFD said there was no explosion, and a fire extinguisher just fell and discharged.

A fire extinguisher fell and discharged in a UPS truck, prompting a response from firefighters and paramedics in the San Fernando Valley. 

The incident was reported around 11:15 a.m. in the Winnetka neighborhood, near Runnymede St. 

Police had originally responded to the area for reports of a suspicious package that had reportedly exploded. But upon further investigation, fire officials said a fire extinguisher fell and discharged. 

By 11:40 a.m., authorities had cleared the area. The driver was not injured.
