Child found dead in Van Nuys apartment
Police are investigating after a 7-year-old girl was found dead in the bathroom of her Van Nuys apartment.
LOS ANGELES - The mother of a 7-year-old girl who drowned in a bathtub in her family's Los Angeles home has been arrested, according to police.
What we know:
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call in the 6800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys. After finding the young girl's body, LAPD launched a homicide investigation.
LAPD said the girl, later identified by the county Office of Medical Examiner as Rebecca Castellanos, lived there with her 38-year-old mother and the man who found her and called 911.
What we don't know:
It's unclear if the girl's mother will be charged, or what charges she faces.
