UPDATE: Advocate for ending violence among 2 found dead inside Newport Beach condo

Police are investigating after two people were found dead early in Newport Beach, authorities said Monday.

According to Newport Beach Fire, police responded to the 2000 block of 15 Street on Sunday night after receiving a call requesting a welfare check on the two individuals.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a deceased male and female, fire officials said. The bodies were discovered about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the residence on 15th Street near Irvine Avenue, the Newport Beach Police Department reported.

Authorities said they believe there is no threat to the community, however, the circumstances surrounding the deaths were not immediately known.

Police spokeswoman Heather Rangel told the Orange County Register that a man came home and found his roommate and a woman he didn't know dead.
