A suspect is in custody after three women were found dead in a rural part of Utah Wednesday afternoon, two on a hiking trail and one in a home.
The suspect was found after a brief manhunt that lasted less than 24 hours.

Officers responded Wednesday afternoon to reports of two women found dead on a hiking trail, according to a Utah Department of Public Safety press release issued just after midnight Thursday. The two women were found on a hiking trail near Torrey, Utah, a town of about 260 people next to Capitol Reef National Park. A third victim was found at a home in Wayne County, where Torrey is located.

The three victims are a woman in her 30s, a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 80s. According to Fox 13 in Salt Lake City, the woman in her 80s was found dead at the home. Police were looking for a 2022 white Subaru Outback with license plate U560YF.

Fox 13 reports that the suspect's vehicle was tracked through southern Utah and into northern Arizona before it was found abandoned in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, early Thursday. The suspect was detained after a brief search, police said.
What we don't know:
Police haven’t released any additional information about the victims, including their names or how they died. Investigators also haven’t released any details on the suspect or how the white Subaru Outback may be linked to the deaths, only that the vehicle had "suspected involvement" in a "suspicious death" in Wayne County.
