Statewide manhunt underway for suspect accused of shooting Merced County deputy
A statewide manhunt was underway Thursday for a man suspected of shooting a Merced County sheriff's deputy.
MERCED, Calif. - UPDATE: The man wanted for shooting a Merced County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested. The California Highway Patrol has deactivated its Blue Alert.

A statewide manhunt was underway Thursday for a man suspected of shooting a Merced County sheriff's deputy.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Blue Alert Wednesday night, which means there was a violent attack on a law enforcement officer and there is an active search for the suspect.
The shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Dos Palos area. Sheriff's officials said 51-year-old Guadalupe Herrera-Lopez shot a deputy as authorities were investigating a domestic violence report.

The deputy, whose name was not released, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital, authorities said.
Herrera-Lopez was last seen driving a white 2013 GMC Sierra crew cab with California license plate number 25599H1.
He is considered armed and dangerous, and could be in possession of a semi-automatic handgun, CHP said.
Anyone who may encounter Herrera-Lopez is asked not to approach him, instead, call 911 immediately.
