Investigation underway after shooting involving LAPD
There is a heavy police presence in the Lincoln Heights area near Avenue 19 and Broadway.
LOS ANGELES - A man armed with a gun was killed during a shooting with officers in Lincoln Heights.
An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was investigating a traffic collision in the area of North Broadway and South Avenue 18 around 11 a.m. when he was approached by a citizen who reported seeing a man armed with a gun down the street.
The officer called in for backup and additional patrol units arrived to the scene. According to LAPD, when officers made contact with the suspect, he pointed a handgun in the officer's direction… an officer-involved shooting then occurred.

Man killed after pointing gun at LAPD officers
The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken to the hospital where he later died. No officers were injured in the shooting.
Police initially said a handgun was recovered on scene, but a further investigation revealed that the handgun was a pellet gun resembling a firearm.
