The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is honoring American novelist, short story writer and poet Sarah Orne Jewett as part of the Literary Arts series of stamps.

The backstory:

Jewett was best known for her local color works set along or near the southern coast of Maine.  The forever stamp features an original portrait of the author with the Maine coast as background and a ray of sunshine, evoking a scene from her best-known work, "The Country of the Pointed Firs."
