LOS ANGELES - Adam Sandler delivers the performance of his career in the new movie, 'Uncut Gems,' already generating Oscar buzz.
The film, described as a crime thriller equivalent to a two-hour heart attack, premiered Wednesday night at The Dome in Hollywood.
Sandler plays a New York City jeweler that cracks the truth about some of the mayhem that goes on behind-the-scenes of the diamond industry.
“When you’re a kid and you think about being an actor, this is the kind of role you go, ‘ooh that’d be a nice role to get,’” said Sandler. “I can’t believe I got to be this guy.’”
'Uncut Gems' opens in limited theaters in L.A. and New York on Friday and everywhere else on Christmas Day.
