Pacoima wall collapse kills worker, injures another

A worker who was trapped under a wall that fell at a construction site in Pacoima has died, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A worker who was trapped under a cinder wall block that fell at a construction site in Pacoima has died, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Rescue efforts began around 8:50 a.m. in the 10500 block of North Glenoaks Boulevard. The 49-year-old, identified as Javier Calderon Casas, died at the scene.

Two other workers — a 42-year-old and a 45-year-old man — were also hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the LAFD.

According to a GoFundMe account, Casas was married and had five daughters and three grandchildren.

It's unclear at this time what prompted the wall to collapse. 

The Los Angeles Police Department and Cal-OSHA were notified, and the circumstances of the death were under investigation.
