Night clerk pistol whipped in Arcadia hotel robbery

A night clerk was pistol whipped and robbed early Sunday at the Santa Anita Inn in Arcadia, police said.

Officers were called just before 2 a.m. to the hotel at 130 W. Huntington Drive. The night clerk reported that a suspect entered the lobby and forced him into a back room using a handgun.

The suspect struck the clerk in the head with the handgun and tried to restrain him but was unsuccessful, police said.

On his way out, an undisclosed amount of money was also stolen from the register.

The suspect was described as black male, approximately 30-years-old, 5'10" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark-colored hat, or a dark hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
