LOS ANGELES, CA (FOX 11) - There's a new way to check out some of America's greatest cities. A new series on the Smithsonian Channel's "Aerial Cities" is giving viewers a bird's eye tour of cities in America. The episode with LA is titled, Aerial Cities: Los Angeles 24.
Executive Producer Toby Beach says, "We try to capture the unique story and history of Los Angeles using only aerial cinematography over the course of 1 day - 24 hours. One thing that makes this show unique is you get these super wide contextual shots of LA -- the county, the coast, the mountains - it paints a really rich portrait of Los Angeles."
Beach also shows you how water comes in to the LA area. He says, "We show how roughly 30% of LA's water comes from hundreds of miles away in Owens Valley, and the whole rich history of how that came to be with the aqua duct."
Aerial cinematographer Tom Miller highlights the big picture and how certain areas relate to each other. "There's so much more here and to be able to see that from the air, you really get those relationships."
