At least three people were injured Tuesday morning in Westchester when a suspect in a stolen vehicle tried to elude police in a short pursuit that eventually triggered a five-vehicle crash.

The number of people injured and the severity of their injuries were not immediately clear, said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Police were notified at 7:36 a.m. of a pursuit on Sepulveda Boulevard, south of Manchester Avenue, which ended at 7:40 a.m. and a suspect was taken into custody, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

Paramedics were dispatched to the crash scene in the 7200 block of West Manchester Avenue, where three ambulances took some people to area hospitals, Bastman said.
