Long Beach police officer fired after allegedly posting graphic photo to social media

A Long Beach police officer has been relieved from employment after allegedly posting graphic photos on his personal social media accounts.

The officer, 26-year-old Jacob Delgado, posted a photo on Instagram of him holding a baton over what appears to be a bloody sidewalk during protests against police brutality.

According to a release from the police department, they say they were made aware of the photos on Thursday and immediately took action.

The department then began an investigation and quickly removed the officer from patrol.

“Our organization is dedicated to our community and we must build upon the relationships we have while continuing to develop and foster new relationships,” stated Chief Robert Luna.

"We hold our employees to the highest standards and will not ignore behavior that erodes public trust.”
