Man with baseball bat shot in Beverly Grove
Police in Beverly Grove shot a man they said attacked his mother with a baseball bat.
LOS ANGELES - A man was shot and killed by his brother in Beverly Grove on Friday, in what police have called a justifiable homicide.
What we know:
Officers got to the home on North Alfred Street just before 1:30 p.m. Friday, after reports of a shooting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The department told City News Service that a man had used a baseball bat to break windows and damage other items in his mother's home, and then went on to threaten the woman. She called her other son for help.
When the younger brother got there, police said, he saw his older brother choking their mother. Police said he fired warning shots, but the brother wouldn't stop. That's when the younger brother shot and killed the older brother.
Paramedics declared the older brother dead at the scene, and took the mom to the hospital with head injuries.
Police told City News Service that the shooting was ruled a justifiable homicide.
What we don't know:
Police did not identify the suspect or the victims.
Officers are investigating what led up to the attack.
