Elvira Guzman: A Latina On The Go
She power walked her way to the front of the room. Wearing a tight knit dress, with long curled hair, Elvira Guzman was quite the glamour girl. It's when she spoke, however, that really caught my attention and had me in awe.
We were at a day of empowerment for girls in detention. We were both among the guest speakers at Central Juvenile Hall. Guzman's speech was powerful and passionate, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. She spoke of her parents incarceration. She spoke about feeling suicidal. She spoke about overcoming one's pain and past.
Guzman is now a young celebrity publicist. She started her own company at 23, Elvie G PR. Of Mexican-American descent, she was also featured in Latina Magazine and was named one of "The Future 15 Latino Entrepreneurs".
Guzman got her start in the celeb scene working for comedian/actor/host Steve Harvey. Her dream is to have her own talk show. For National Hispanic Heritage Month(beginning September 15th), I sat down with this dynamic young lady on-the-go. She also tells her story in an easy-read book, "Your Blueprint."
