LOS ANGELES (CNS/FOX 11) - A man led police on a chase Monday from the Sun Valley area to San Bernardino County in a stolen Budget rental truck.
The truck was stolen about 1 p.m. at Sheldon Street and San Fernando Road, according to Los Angeles police Officer Nuria Vanegas.
The person using the truck had left the keys in the vehicle, and the suspect jumped in and drove off, Vanegas said.
The chase led onto various freeways, including the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway in the Pasadena area and eventually the Foothill (210) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck was generally in the slow lanes, and the driver appeared to be abiding by the speed limit in the truck -- which is likely equipped with a speed regulator.
More than an hour later, police successfully deployed a spike strip, and the tires on the truck quickly flattened.

In the Rancho Cucamonga area, the driver exited the freeway and came to a stop. He initially sat in the cab of the truck, but as officers slowly approached -- with a barking police dog about to be deployed -- the man opened the door of the truck and surrendered.
More than a dozen motorists pulled over on the side of the 210 Freeway in view of the truck when it stopped, apparently hoping to watch the culmination of the chase.
