Woman killed in Compton shooting

An investigation was underway after shots were fired in Compton early Friday morning.

An investigation was underway in a Compton neighborhood after a 23-year-old woman was shot and killed. 

What we know:

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies were notified of a shooting in the 1500 block of W. 138th Street around 2:45 a.m. 

Deputies later learned that three people were sitting in parked vehicles along N. Kalsman Avenue, off El Segundo Boulevard and Central Avenue, about a half mile away, when they were shot.

The victims self-transported to area hospitals.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital by medical personnel, sheriff's officials said. 

The other two victims sustained injuries that are considered non-life-threatening and are in stable condition. 

What we don't know:

Information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting and a possible suspect was not available.
