SigAlert issued on Sepulveda Pass
A SigAlert was issued by the CHP due to "unsafe roadway" during the morning rush hour on Wednesday.
LOS ANGELES - Those commuting on the southbound side of the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley were encouraged to leave early after a SigAlert was issued in the Sherman Oaks area on Wednesday morning.
What we know:
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert following a crash around 4:35 a.m. near the 101 Freeway.
No injuries were reported. However, the loose concrete that damaged the involved vehicle left large gaps in the two right lanes.
About three hours later, traffic was stop-and-go and the backup extended five miles to Nordhoff Street in North Hills.
Aerial images from SkyFOX showed traffic backed up for miles.
The SigAlert was lifted, and all lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m.
