YouTube family faces backlash after being accused of trying to profit off wildfire

The heat from the Holy Fire in Orange County is down significantly now that the wildfire is nearly 100% contained. But this week, a whole different kind of heat aimed at Cole and Savannah LaBrant, a family of YouTubers, who some accuse of trying to profit off the fire.

Residents in both Orange and Riverside counties were told to get out of their homes when the Holy Fire came a little too close. The problem is that this social influencer family documented their own distress on YouTube, even though the Ladera Ranch area they lived in was never under an evacuation order.

Neighbors are not amused by this YouTube family, and they feel they are exploiting this situation for more likes and hits on their channel. In the video the family posted, they show suitcases packed and ready to load into the car. The rest of the video is more of a travelog since evacuation for the LaBrants meant heading to a hotel and touring San Francisco.

We rang the LaBrant's doorbell and emailed them to give us their side of the story, but no one responded. Not long after that, the video was removed from their YouTube channel. People criticized the couple, and a few defended them saying the woman is pregnant and the daughter was scared.
