Woman killed after being struck by two hit-and-run vehicles in Van Nuys

A woman was killed when she was struck by two vehicles while crossing a Van Nuys street and neither vehicle stopped, authorities said Thursday.

An officer was flagged down by members of the public at 11:23 p.m. Wednesday and directed to the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Stagg Street where the woman was lying in the roadway, said a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Bureau.

The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was struck by one vehicle and fell to the roadway as the vehicle continued on, police said. A second vehicle ran the woman over and the driver also failed to stop, police said.

Descriptions of the vehicles were not immediately available.

The woman was said to be between the ages of 20 to 30.
