Winter storm brings snow and rain Thursday to Southern California

A cold storm system continued Thursday to move across the area, bringing rain, mountain snow and a chance of thunderstorms.

Forecasters said snow levels could drop, impacting lower elevations and interior valley areas.

Rain was also expected at the coast, valleys, deserts, mountains and foothills, according to the National Weather Service. Mainly light precipitation was predicted, however isloated heavier downpours or thunderstorms with small hail was possible.

Drier conditions will return by the weekend, forecasters said.

Below normal temperatures were expected for most areas through early next week.
