Wild Video: Man dragged trying to stop thief during carjacking

- A wild carjacking caught on camera a man was literally dragged trying to stop a thief!

Reed Pellerin had quite the night on Monday driving near his Silverlake home. He heard, then saw what he thought was a fight in traffic near him, he turned, and of course picked up his iPhone and started recording.

'The guy was hanging from the car they had gotten into an altercation…like road rage  ... I thought it was road rage, a road rage situation, but it wasn't.'

It was was a carjacking. Police say that the victim had stopped to help someone change a tire, and had left his car unattended, when the car thief apparently jumped in and started to drive off.

The victim, who hasn't been publicly identified, grabbed on to the door frame, as the driver off, and as Pellerin recorded it from the next lane over.

The victim's steel tipped boots where literally sparking off the road. After about 3/4 of a mile, the victim let go, fell off, and the car sped off. He was banged up, but treated and released at the scene.

Pellerin was still talking about it today, saying he didn't even know if it was real at first, then quickly realized it was.

He helped the man who'd fallen off the car, gave him and police his video, and went on home.  He  never even got his name. Police tell me the alleged carjacker was taken into custody without incident  later that night in another part of LA after our victim's car was spotted and the LAPD ran the plates.

Now Pellerin, who just moved here 6 months ago from Oklahoma, has quite a story to tell to the folks back home, fortunately one that ended without anyone being hurt or killed.

The video in the story is restricted to the Los Angeles area.
