Water main breaks in Van Nuys, streets flooded

VAN NUYS, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A water main break on Tuesday flooded streets and submerged at least two vehicles in an underground carport in Van Nuys.

An eight-inch main burst about 2:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Hazeltine Avenue, according to Los Angeles Department of Water and Power spokesman Michael Ventre.

Water was shut off and crews were at the scene trying to repair the broken main, Ventre said.

Some 25 customers were affected, he said.

The estimated time for completion of repairs is 4 p.m.

Video showed two cars submerged in an underground carport.
