Two killed in two vehicle crash on 10 Freeway in Mid-City

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - Two people were killed and two others injured Thursday morning when a pickup truck crashed into a car that had stalled on the westbound 10 Freeway near the La Brea Avenue exit in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.

Paramedics responded about 4:20 a.m. and located four patients, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s died at the scene, the coroner's office reported. Their names were withheld, pending notification of kin.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two people who were killed were passengers in a Nissan Altima that had stalled in the No. 3 lane and that was then rear-ended by the truck.

The driver of the Nissan, a man in his 40s, suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to the CHP and the LAFD. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was issued for the Nos. 2, 3 & 4 lanes of the westbound freeway east of Hauser Boulevard, and the Washington Boulevard exit was also blocked while an investigation was conducted. Some lanes remained closed three hours after the crash. By about 8:30 a.m., all lanes had been reopened.
