Rock slide closes Malibu Canyon Road

A rock slide Wednesday evening shut down Malibu Canyon Road in both directions between Civic Center Way at Pepperdine University and Piuma Road.

Malibu officials say the road will remain closed until Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, and until crews are able to survey the hillsides for risk of further rock mudslides.

Los Angeles County Fire Department tweeted that one injury was reported in Wednesday's rock slide. That person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Drivers are reminded to exercise caution when driving during storm conditions and be on alert for rocks, mud, and other debris in roadways.
