Nun rescued in Boyle Heights after carjacking

A 70-year-old nun was kidnapped at a gas station in South LA on Thursday according to authorities.

It all started when a man allegedly tried to rob the 76 gas station on Adams Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

The gas station employee immediately pressed an alarm that locked the front door, but the suspect was able to escape through a back door.

The suspect then ran into the car driven by the nun and police say he ordered the nun to drive or he would kill her.

She drove about 5 miles to a Carl's Jr parking lot in Boyle Heights where she managed to escape. She ran out screaming for help.

The suspect also took off running, but officers tracked him down and arrested him.

We're told the nun is doing well and is shaken up, but not injured.
