LA County Fire: Closing the door at night could save your life

In case of a fire, most people think it's safer to keep the bedroom door open when they go sleep. Sixty percent of people close their bedroom doors.

It turns out to be the wrong thing to do.

By closing the bedroom door, that barrier slows the spread of flames and reduces toxic smoke. LA County Firefighters held a live eye-opening demonstration during Good Day LA to show the viewers how quickly a fire can spread.

They advice having smoke alarms in every level of your home, creating an escape plan and always closing your bedroom door at night. If you can't get out quickly, having a closed door between you and the fire is critical to your survival.
