Residents in some Los Angeles neighborhoods have had enough.

The city of Los Angeles is suing the Federal Aviation Administration over airplane noise in the West Adams, Mid-City and other areas, according to reports published Monday.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, follows residents' complaints of plane noise resulting from relatively new routes used to access Los Angeles International Airport, according to the Los Angeles Times.

City Attorney Mike Feuer contends that the FAA hasn't sought public comment on new routes put into effect in 2017 and additionally changed in 2018 and failed to do a required environmental review, according to The Times, which reported that the city wants the court to invalidate the flight plan and compel a proper environmental review.

An FAA spokesman told the newspaper the agency won't comment on pending litigation.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals handles cases against federal agencies.

Residents in the San Fernando Valley have complained about the implementation of new flight paths for planes using Hollywood Burbank Airport.
