Gruesome industrial accident kills man in Gardena

GARDENA, Calif. (FOX 11) - A man was killed in a tragic and gruesome accident at what appears to be an aerospace assembly company in Gardena on Monday.

Officials say the unidentified man became trapped in a machine at the Gardena business located in the 1400 block of West 178th Street.

It appears the man may have been conducting some type of machinery maintenance when the machine was inadvertently turned on.

Emergency crews were called at about 12:40 p.m. but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not revealed the name of the victim at this time and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and if it could have been avoided.

No further details were immediately known.
