Forever 21 facing heavy criticism after including diet snack in plus-size orders
WEST COVINA, Calif. (FOX 11) - It is a common marketing technique to give online shoppers free samples or coupons promoted by third party colonies, but some shoppers of a retail giant are saying their freebie backfired.
Retailer Forever 21 faced heavy criticism from users on social media regarding a diet snack thrown in as a complimentary gift with plus size online orders.
Many people felt the promotion fat-shamed plus size women.
It was rumored the company released a statement stating the bars were sent to all online customers, not just those ordering plus size clothing.
But the company did not get back with FOX 11 regarding a statement or interview request. It did not address the uproar on its website or social media profiles.
FOX 11 reporter Leah Uko spoke with a woman who received the lemon flavor Atkins bar with her order of two pairs of jeans.
