EL SEGUNDO (CNS) - An explosion sparked a fire Tuesday night at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo that was extinguished in about 50 minutes.
The explosion was reported around 10:40 p.m. on the west side of the refinery, located at 324 W. El Segundo Blvd., authorities said. The fire was put out sometime around 11:30 p.m.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. The cause of the explosion was not immediately reported.
The fire prompted the El Segundo Police Department to shut down Vista Del Mar Boulevard between 45th Street and Grand Avenue.
Authorities advised residents in the area to close their windows as smoke is blowing into the surrounding areas.
