Eleven Santa Ana 7/11 stores robbed in last 3 weeks

Santa Ana Police say armed robbers looted five different 7/11 stores 11 times in about two weeks, stealing thousands of dollars.

"They're hitting the same location multiple times. Often twice in one day," said Santa Ana PD Spokesman Anthony Bertagna.

Police say each time, the robbers showed cashiers the top of their tucked-away gun, and then demanded cash.

Police are starting to now fear the robbers could get bolder.

"When someone uses a weapon to commit a crime, the potential for someone getting seriously hurt is there," said Bertagna.

Police arrested one suspected accomplice Saturday.

They say Miguel Ledesma walked into the 7/11 on Main Street. Police say he tried getting the cashiers attention, but the worker recognized him from surveillance images and called 911.

Police then say Ledesma walked out, and waited in the parking lot, staying long enough for police to arrest him minutes later.

Four more robberies still took place after. Police believe two more thieves - maybe even three are involved.

They hope the next time they try to go for an easy jackpot - they'll instead land themselves in jail.
