Detectives seek man who stabbed victim on bus in East LA

- Detectives on Tuesday released images of a man suspected of stabbing and critically injuring a fellow passenger aboard a transit bus in East Los Angeles.

The attack took place about 10:15 a.m. Monday in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard aboard a Montebello Public Transit bus, according to Deputy Sara Rodriguez of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's department reported.

A possible motive for the stabbing has not been disclosed.

The suspect, who got off the bus and fled on foot after stabbing the victim, was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s to early 40s. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 170 to 180 pounds and was wearing a blue and orange shirt and green shorts.

Anyone who was on the bus, which was westbound on Whittier Boulevard traveling Montebello Public Transit Route 10, was urged to call Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives at (323) 890-5500.
