LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - --UPDATE--

Nguyen is several months pregnant. Her husband says a doctor detected a heartbeat for the baby Friday morning.
He adds that Nguyen's left hand and arm are badly injured with severed tendons and nerves. Doctor's have told her she will need months or possibly years of therapy to recover the use of her arm and hand.
Nguyen remains hospitalized while police continue to search for the other suspects.
At least two people were arrested Thursday and more arrests were expected in connection to a stabbing and carjacking of a pregnant woman in the Sunland-Tujunga area of Los Angeles. More arrests
The stabbing was reported around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 10800 block of Eldora Avenue, according to police. The victim pulled in front of her house when she was approached by three suspects.
She rolled down her car window and was stabbed more then 10 times by one of the suspects, according to her husband.
"One of the stab wounds punctured her lung. She lost her front teeth," the victim’s husband said. "She doesn’t feel her hand because she tried to protect herself when they were stabbing her, so she got deep cuts. They are looking into that. She’s in surgery this morning.”
Her car was then stolen, with the driver crashing into several other parked vehicles while making a getaway, police said. After crashing head-on into a Toyota Corolla, at least one of the suspects got out of the stolen car and fled on foot.
Witnesses said there was another vehicle involved with people inside.
The victim, who is about 3 months pregnant, was left in the street. She was rushed to the hospital and remained in critical condition Thursday, according to her husband.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the unborn baby, which is the couple's first child.
A gender reveal party was scheduled for Saturday, according to family.
Detectives said witness tips helped lead authorities to “persons of interest” for questioning. FOX 11 later confirmed at least two people were arrested in connection to the case. Their identities were not immediately released.
More arrests were expected, police said.
