The deputy was flown to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff's Department. SWAT took the suspect into custody.

The suspect, 54-year-old Anthony Brown, was injured and taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition following the shooting.

The incident began shortly after 2:30 p.m. when deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun inside his vehicle threatening passersby in the 15000 block of 7th Street in the city of Victorville.

The Sheriff's Department says that after deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect refused to get out of his car and decided to accelerate toward deputies and their patrol cars. That's when the deputy-involved shooting occurred. Two guns were found with the suspect, according to investigators.

Detectives believe a ricocheted bullet fragment struck Deputy Jason Aria. Deputy Aria is expected to make a full recovery.
