Blues Traveler donates $5,000 to LA County Fire Department Foundation, encourages others to match

American rock band Blues Traveler was set to perform on Good Day LA Tuesday morning, but due to the new Woolsey Fire flare up happening near Thousand Oaks, FOX 11 News has postponed their performance. Blues Traveler instead made a donation to help firefighters.

On the show, lead singer John Popper said, "Blues Traveler is making a donation of $5,000 to the Los Angeles County Fire Department Foundation. They provide all the training and safety education throughout Los Angeles County in coordination with the LA Fire Department."

Popper encourages others to match their donation by visiting the foundation's website at LACFDF.org.

Guitarist Chan Kinchla shared a personal story with us, saying, "My mom who lives up in Ventura was going to try to make it down to the show, though I'm not sure at this point with Thousand Oaks flaring back up. I think anyone who lives in Los Angeles -- I live in Studio City -- knows people or is just affected emotionally by something like this happening."

Blues Traveler will record their performance later today, and Good Day LA will air it on Wednesday morning. They are playing at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles Tuesday night, and they wish firefighters could attend but they know how hard they are working to save lives and property at this time.
