A bicyclist was struck and killed in a street racing crash Monday night in South Los Angeles, police said.

The victim was identified Tuesday as 54-year-old James Findley, a Los Angeles resident.

The accident was reported around 10:20 p.m. on Broadway at West 82nd Street. An investigation determined that two vehicles were speeding northbound on Broadway, Los Angeles police said.

When one vehicle approached the intersection, it collided with Findley who was riding his bicycle down 82nd Street. Authorities said Findley was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least one parked vehicle was also damaged, police said.

One of the vehicles remained at the scene, while the second car fled the area.

Police said a 29-year-old driver was arrested and faces a vehicle manslaughter charge. The second driver, who remained at large Tuesday, faces a felony hit-and-run charge.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department.
