1 man fatally shot in Mid-City gas station robbery; 2 suspects sought

A clerk was shot and killed Tuesday at a Shell gas station mini-mart in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles during an apparent robbery, authorities said.

The victim, who was in his 40s or 50s, died at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 5:40 a.m. at Venice and Hauser boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was withheld, pending notification of relatives.

The suspects were described only as men in their 20s who fled in white, newer-model four-door Chevrolet Malibu.

The fatally wounded man had worked as a clerk at the store for about eight years.
