1 killed, 2 injured in gas station car-to-car shooting

Two crime scenes. Three victims...and one killer.

It was a busy morning for homicide detectives with the LA County Sheriff's Department and officers at LAPD's Southeast station as they worked to solve a murder mystery.

The story starts at a gas station's food mart on Imperial Highway. It was just before 1 o'clock Thursday morning when police say a couple was sitting inside a car outside the store.

That's when a white sedan with two men inside pulled up next to them and using a high-powered rifle one of the men opened fire on the couple.

Both the man and the woman were hit as well as an innocent bystander - a man who just happened to be sitting outside the mini mart.

The suspects then drove off and in a desperate attempt to get her companion some help, the female victim nudged his body over as best she could, jumped in the driver's seat and drove 2 miles to the LAPD station on 108th Street.

With an LA City Fire station directly across the street, help arrived quickly but sadly it was too late for him, he was dead.

Both the woman and the other man who had been shot back at the gas station were rushed to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.

As for the victim, his name has not yet been released because the coroner is still working on notifying his family, while police work on catching his killer.

As always, if you have that one piece of information that could help them, please call the LA County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
