Brush fire sparks in Oxnard near golf course; voluntary evacuation orders issued

Voluntary evacuation orders were issued in Oxnard after a vegetation fire sparked on Friday morning.

The Olivas Fire ignited just before 4:00 a.m. at the river bottom of the Santa Clara River near the Buenaventura Golf Course located adjacent to the intersection of Olivas Park Drive and Victoria Avenue. 

The fire is currently at 200 acres and is 50 percent contained, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. No structures were threatened.

The Victoria Bridge was expected to be closed as firefighters worked to knock down the blaze. Fire crews were expected to be at the scene throughout the day.
