21-Year-Old Man Drowns In Demi Moore's Backyard Pool

LOS ANGELES (CNS/FOX 11) - A young man drowned in the backyard pool at actress and producer Demi Moore's Beverly Hills-area home Sunday morning, a coroner's official said.

Edenilson Steven Valle was pulled from the deep end of the pool where he was found floating after being in the water an estimated 10-15 minutes, Los Angeles County coroner's Lt. Fred Corral told City News Service.

Friends and family members of the 21-year-old Los Angeles resident said he did not know how to swim, according to Corral.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house, in the 9700 block of Oak Pass Road, at 5:17 a.m., a city spokesman said. That is in the Beverly Crest neighborhood, in the so-called "Beverly Hills Post Office'' area north of Beverly Hills.

Moore was not at home at the time of the man's death, nor were her three
children, police said.

Police at the Los Angeles Police Department's West Los Angeles station were investigating, but LAPD Sgt. Barry Montgomery told reporters at the scene that the party, thrown by a Moore assistant, was winding down before dawn when the man drowned.

He initially went unnoticed, Montgomery said.

"This just looks like an accident,'' he said.

Moore issued a statement to news media expressing sympathy for the victim's loved ones.

"I am in absolute shock,'' she said. "I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news. The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man's family and friends.''

Photos of the movie star, reportedly strolling Saturday on a street in Vancouver, Canada, were posted on the Internet.

Oak Pass Road is a winding hillside street on the eastern side of Benedict Canyon, above Trousdale Estates and Beverly Hills.
